Join us for a hands-on Box Cushion Sewing Workshop at Renew, where you'll learn the professional techniques used to create bespoke box cushions that can give your furniture a whole new look. 

Whether you want to update tired seating with beautifully made new cushions, create custom cushions for a bench or window seat, or simply learn valuable upholstery sewing skills, this workshop is the perfect introduction. Suitable for complete beginners and those looking to build on existing sewing experience, you'll gain the confidence to create professional-quality box cushions that are made to last. 

Located at our state-of-the-art facility in Trafford Park, Renew transforms Greater Manchester's donated items into valuable resources, donating over £225,000 each year to local charities and good causes. By taking part in one of our workshops, you're helping us continue that work while learning a rewarding new skill. 

What You'll Make 

During the workshop, you'll create your own professional box cushion while learning the techniques used throughout the upholstery industry. 

Box cushions are commonly used on sofas, armchairs, dining benches, window seats and bespoke furniture. By learning how to make your own, you'll have the skills to refresh existing furniture, replace worn cushions, or create completely bespoke pieces for your home.

Our experienced upholstery tutors will guide you through every stage of the process, helping you build confidence while developing practical sewing skills you can use again and again for upholstery, furniture restoration and home sewing projects.

You're welcome to bring your own upholstery fabric if you'd like your finished cushion to coordinate perfectly with your existing furniture. 

If you're unsure whether your fabric is suitable, please contact us before your workshop and we'll be happy to advise.

What to Bring 

Please bring: 

For your safety, full-length trousers are required. Please do not wear skirts or shorts. We also recommend wearing steel toe boots if you have them. If not, we can provide safety footwear on site. 

Workshop Fee 

£95 per person 

The fee includes expert tuition, full use of our industrial sewing machines, all tools, equipment and materials required to complete your box cushion.
